Rev Timothy J Squire

An R.O.T.C. graduate of Western Illinois University with a minor in political science, Timothy had dreamed of a military career from an early age. But when graduation came without an officer position, his world was shaken. Alone in a hotel room in the months that followed, he responded to an earlier challenge by reading through the book of Mark‒ and in that evening, his life changed forever.

Mentored in First Southern Baptist Church of Lemon Grove, CA, Timothy learned the value of teaching the Bible “precept upon precept; line upon line; here a little, and there a little” (Isaiah:28:10). He received God’s call to ministry while in that church, and earned a Master of Divinity degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Following graduation, he took on an administrative role at a Christian college in Georgia before pastoring Sauldam Baptist Church in Ravenel, South Carolina for most of his ministry career. Later, after moving to Charleston, Pastor Tim led the weekly Bible study at First Baptist Church of Johns Island and currently pastors Rantowles Baptist Church in Hollywood, SC.

Pastor Tim’s quick wit and warm humor are as much a part of his ministry as his profound prayers and exegetical teaching. His keen and continued interest in American politics is reflected in nearly 25 years of service as an election judge— where he’s likely to crack a joke or two while ensuring democracy runs smoothly.
