LEC510‒ Master’s Thesis: Description

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

These projects demonstrate the student’s ability to engage deeply with Scripture, apply sound hermeneutical methods, and communicate theological insight with academic precision. They also cultivate the research and writing skills essential for ministry, teaching, and continued scholarship.

At our seminary, students are given the opportunity to choose the format that best aligns with their personal interests and ministry goals—either a thesis, which emphasizes research and argumentation, or an exegetical paper, which focuses on in-depth biblical interpretation and application.

THESIS

For students aiming to complete the doctorate progam after earning their MDiv, the thesis is great practice for writing their dissertation.

Perimeters will be provided upon registration for the thesis.

EXEGETICAL PAPER

All students are equipped to write an exegetical paper, having taken the BIP502 Series‒ Biblical Interpretation in Practice, but we recommend that those planning to preach expository sermons (as presented in BIP504‒ Christ-Centered Expository Preaching) select the exegetical paper.

• Students must have earned MDiv 55 credits.
• Students are required to purchase the curriculum below as preparation for composing the thesis.
